Advanced Cell Therapy Centre
Our Advanced Cell Therapy Centre manufactures, develops and researches new, advanced cell, tissue and blood products for use in healthcare. Between 2013 and 2025, 150 patients were treated with our experimental cell therapy and tissue products.
In 2025, we began production of a new blood product, serum eye drops. These are needed for the treatment of severe eye surface diseases. Previously, hospitals made these products themselves from patients’ blood serum, but now the Blood Service produces them with the help of blood donors, with the main aim of improving their availability.
At our Advanced Cell Therapy Centre, we also manufactured keratinocyte products for the treatment of patients with severe burns and modified haploidentical stem cell transplants for the treatment of paediatric patients. As a contract manufacturer for a pharmaceutical company, we also produced the first advanced cell therapy product manufactured in Finland, the so-called CAR-T product for the treatment of cancer, as part of a clinical drug trial.
